Gaslit: Part One

How Faithful Catholics Are Bamboozled Into Supporting Evil

By Staff Writer Adrian Hau

How does it happen?

How do faithful Catholics NOT see what’s in front of their eyes? How do they continue to write checks to prelates who are clearly taking them for a ride? Despite criminal investigations and horrific revelations of sexual abuse of young people — mostly male teens?

Are Catholics just dumb?

Actually, no.

Catholics today are the targets of ‘Gaslighting’ — a form of psychological abuse designed to cause a person to doubt their sanity. Essentially, the goal is to get the person to deny the evidence of their own senses in order to enable the predator to hide in plain sight.

11 common signs of a Gaslighter are[1]:

  1. They tell blatant lies
  2. They deny they ever said something, even though you have proof.
  3. They use what is near and dear to you as ammunition
  4. They wear you down over time.
  5. Their actions do not match their words.
  6. They throw in positive reinforcement to confuse you.
  7. They know confusion weakens people.
  8. They project.
  9. They try to align people against you.
  10. They tell others you are crazy.
  11. They tell you everyone else is a liar.

Does any of this sound familiar, Catholics?

I find it absolutely unmistakable.

Gaslighting from the Vatican

American Catholics, did you vote for Donald Trump?

Yes? Congratulations, you are a sower of hatred which will lead to Hitler.  Because Donald Trump’s populism is apparently how racially obsessed dictators get their start.  And you thought you were merely tired of the other side constantly belittling and bringing down America, and opted to vote for someone who wants to allow you to become prosperous and happy instead.  Nope!  You were voting for the next Hitler all along!

This idea would be laughable if it wasn’t Pope Francis who advanced it. [2]

I’ve never heard the US President say anything even remotely related to the kind of blood purity fetish espoused by Hitler and the Nazis, have you?

On the contrary, I have heard someone say that Communists — responsible for the Holodomor, and several other atrocities, especially as concerns La Revolucion in Latin America — are ‘the ones who think like Christians’.[3]

Who said this?

The Vicar of Christ.

Speaking seriously it’s not just your imagination, the person who is most responsible for leading you to Christ likes to say nice things about you one moment, and horrible things the next.  But whatever you do, don’t believe the bad reports about the way he covers up sex-abuse because that would make you someone who is sexually stimulated by the ingestion of human excrement.[4]

Feeling disoriented?

Do you feel a little queasy – like this all can’t possibly be true? That someone is lying – and it can’t be the Pope?

For the technique to be successful, gaslighting depends on the subject (you) finding it easier and safer to deny reality. How?

Let’s look at a dramatic example of how gaslighting works: ‘Star Trek:  The Next Generation’ in an episode entitled ‘Chain of Command, Part Two’.

The hero, Captain Picard, is captured by the villain Gul Madred.  Gul Madred tortures the Captain, seeking information.

Gul Madred tries to gaslight Captain Picard by showing him four lights, and repeatedly demanding that he say that he sees five lights.  For Captain Picard to admit that he sees five lights is to admit that he’s been broken, and to surrender his entire reality to a sadistic torturer.

At the climax, Gul Madred tempts Captain Picard with a life of comfort and convenience, if only he will say that there are five lights.  Does that sound familiar?  It reminds me of the very first usage of gaslighting: “No, you shall not die the death!  For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil.”

When Madred’s ruse is revealed, a weakened and ragged Captain Picard overcomes the gas-lighting attempt and hoarsely shouts, “There… are… FOUR lights!”

The Pope’s Management Style Adopted by Cardinals

Cardinal Cupich of Chicago has taken to insisting that his priests see five lights, especially as concerns the well-being of blasphemous rainbow flags.

Fr. Paul Kalchik, twice a victim of sexual attack, one by Catholic clergy, has been forced into hiding to escape Cupich’s order to report to a facility meant to brainwash good priests into accepting grave sins.[5]

Fr. Kalchik, currently living from donations from the laity, stubbornly sees four lights. He is like Captain Picard.

How many lights do you see?

Are there four?

Or are there five?
